Not a selfie. Not a blurry one a friend took at dinner. Not the wedding photos from however many years ago.
A real one. Where you weren't posing. Where he had his hand on your back the way he always does. Where you were laughing at something only the two of you understood.
Most couples and I mean most don't have those photos. Not from this year. Not from this version of their life. There are pictures of the kids, pictures of the trips, pictures of the renovation. But almost nothing of you, together, the way you actually are right now.
This is the session that fixes that.
Less performance. More presence.
Here's what I want you to know: a couple sessions with me is not going to feel like a photoshoot. It's going to feel like a long, slow walk somewhere beautiful, with someone gently watching the way you are with each other.
I don't pose stiffly. I don't ask you to dip her or stare into each other's eyes on a count of three. I ask you about your week. I ask how you met. I ask what made you laugh yesterday. And while you're answering, I'm working watching for the way his hand finds yours, the way you lean into his shoulder when you tell the story, the look you give each other when you both remember the same thing.
That's the photograph. Not the one where you're trying. The one where you forgot to.
I shoot candid by instinct, lifestyle by approach. Direction when it helps. A lot of stepping back when it doesn't. By the end of the session, most couples tell me they actually had a good time which is

Where We'll Shoot
Wherever the two of you feel most like the two of you.
The best couple sessions happen in places that mean something. The trail you hike on Saturdays. The neighborhood you've walked a thousand times. The coffee shop you went to on your first date. Your apartment, your kitchen, your bed on a Sunday morning with the light coming in.
I'm based in Charlotte and shoot couples all over the area, [list a few specific Charlotte locations she works often, e.g. Uptown, NoDa, Freedom Park, the Whitewater Center, Davidson, Lake Norman] and I travel happily. The Blue Ridge in fall. A weekend in Asheville. Rome, if you're going. If there's a place that holds your story, that's the place we should be.
